Writing the original submission was very important for me. So many people are under the mistaken assumption that cats are somehow supposed to be outdoors, able to fend for themselves, and dropping them off "on a farm" or dumping them won't be a death sentence.

The positive cat/ mother of the kittens that I took in has taught me so much and truly opened my eyes to the sad plight of ferals. I watch her everyday learning things like how to play with a cat toy, drink from a bowl, accept affection, and just how to BE a cat instead of an isolated terrified creature fearful of all humans.

I'd like to thank the people who read my original submission for reading and understanding. With hope and hard work there might be hope for ferals.

Eve

Hi Eve.. I agree, the domestic cat is just that, used to being domesticated and it is ill equipped to deal with life in a human world. And feral cats are essentially domestic cats as they have unlearned to a large extent their wild cat skills. Obviously long term ferals are more skilled.

What annoys me is that people domesticated the wild cat and then a substantial number of people have then abandoned the domesticated cat. This is very wrong.

Feral's fight
by: Jan Plant

it is so good of you Eve to help these poor cats. Most people will either call animal control,or shoot them. And neither helps.Feral cats are ALWAYS the cause of irresponsible owners, not fixing their domestics, and then abandoning the off spring.Ferals don't just happen. And you area true angel to aid in their plight. And I'm going now, before I cry,and then rant and rave about the injustice.xxx.

Thank you

...for being one of the few hardy troops out to fight ignorance and neglect by humans of the domestic cat. Ferals in particular are deserving of compensation for their creation, by those who dumped their parents, did not bother to spay or neuter them. That compensation comes in the form of those who TNR and manage colonies, those like you Eve who take on cats and work with them to help them learn trust of humans.

This is valauable work. Humans can learn much about themselves by working to help feral cats.

More power to you Eve!

Jane.
