Cat with Blood and White Pus from Swollen Shut Eye

by Thais Bury
(Detroit, Mich., U.S.)

My black and white shorthair cat, Felix, had his eye swollen shut a few days ago. It seemed to be getting worse.

Last night, some blood came out of his eye. Today he is better, but the eye is still swollen much, although there is a tiny opening and I see his eye.

I can't take him to the vet because I am disabled and have no money. Felix is the best companion anyone could have - human or animal.

It is killing me that he is suffering. He likes to be outside a lot, probably got into a fight with another cat. Please pray for Felix, that he doesn't lose sight in that eye. Thank you.

Thais

Hi Thais.... if you get a quote from a vet for a consultation and treatment and get back to me with a comment (click on the link below), I will then consider funding the treatment to a limit. But I need a quote first. And you will need a PayPal account.

If I don't hear from you the best of luck to Felix.

By the way, I agree it is a cat fight and he has a bacterial infection in the eye. It needs antibiotics quickly. The treatment shouldn't be expensive. Please act fast.

Felix
by: Ruth

Thais you MUST get Felix seen by a vet or he WILL lose his eye, he must urgently have antibiotics and pain medication. Think if it was your eye, you'd have seen a doctor days ago wouldn't you ?
If you leave this much longer his treatment will be far more expensive as he will need an operation to remove his infected eye.It could affect his other eye and your cat could end up blind!
PLEASE PLEASE see a vet IMMEDIATELY, you owe it to your cat to do this.If you lived in the UK you would be prosecuted for neglect.
I'm not trying to frighten you or to be unkind but this is URGENT.

Mobile Vet Services
by: Susan

I agree with Michael, please act quickly on your poor kitties eye. These days there are mobile vet services that can come directly to you, check your yellow pages for listings. They can wash out the eye and give you antibiotics. Let them know you have a limited income, perhaps they can give you discounts. It doesn't hurt to ask! Please don't let kitty suffer!
