Dry Cat Shampoo

Almost Dry Cat Shampoo
Veterinarian's Best Dry Clean Waterless Cat Bath Foam, 4oz.

So what is cat shampoo that is dry all about? Well, the shampoo heading this page is called "waterless" so like a fool I thought it was dry shampoo. But not quite. It is a spray-on foam that dries on the cat after it is worked in. It is then left to dry and brushed out. It gets good reviews.

The one below is classic dry cat shampoo:

One customer said that it was difficult to brush out. It is also said to be difficult to apply evenly and last but not least it smells too strongly and doesn't necessarily clean the cat. One reviewer said his cat felt dirtier after it was used because of difficulty getting it out of the fur. - go on try some...! Reviews are not necessarily always reliable.

The cat shampoo below is another waterless one. This is not, therefore, a powder. That said it seems that the waterless cat shampoos are better than the true dry cat shampoos judging by the customer reviews:

This one also gets the best overall reviews on Amazon.

60 reviews at 4 star. None of the other shampoos come close in terms of number of reviews.

When considering shampooing a cat you should decide if it needs to be done. Cats that are not overweight and healthy should be able to keep their coat clean without interference from us. Cat shampoos can be irritating to a cat (perfume added and other chemicals that might irritate the skin). There would seem to be a risk element too. When a cat licks his or her fur she will be licking off some of the powder that was not brushed out. Is that alright?

Let's be honest, almost of the times people shampoo their cat, they do it for themselves not for the benefit of the cat.
