Is it possible to have a Scottish wildcat in USA/CT?

by Michelle
(Stamford, CT, USA)

I saw one on club Road today in Stamford, CT....this is a suburban area close to woods and forests....it ran in front of my car, then behind a house into the woods.

It was about 3-4 ft long, including hte tail... had stripes, a big bushy striped tail and a white underbelly.

Michelle

Hi Michelle... The answer is no, it is not possible to have a Scottish wild cat roaming wild in Connecticut, USA as they only live in Scotland.

You seem to have described a large tabby cat. Scottish wildcats are large tabby cats, a bit stockier than the average domestic cat.

They do though look very like a moggie domestic cat except the look is definitely wild.

I suppose that there is just the barest chance that someone has a domesticated Scottish wildcat in the USA, which escaped but that is almost impossible to envisage.

Thanks for visiting and asking.

Best
