My British Shorthair Nico

by Nezzi
(Cape Fear, NC)

Nico and Mia

Nico and Mia

My British Shorthair, Nico, was a rescue cat from a horrible pet shop. Nico was already 6 months old and had grown up alone in a small cage before we took him. He was shy at first, but has since grown up to be the most loving and sociable cat I've ever known. He is a very big boy, but a gentle giant.

He has never hissed, bitten or scratched a single person in the now 4 years we've had him. He gets along with both cats and dogs, and so far every human he's met. He is brave and loving, and even likes to meow back at you when you speak to him.

He loves to be petted and snuggled, and is content to stay in your lap for as long as you'll let him. Nico is the best cat I've ever owned. He is also the big brother to our newest addition, a little Ocicat/tabby mix kitten named Mia.

Nox
by: Michael

Hi Nezzi...I didn't play with Nox but one thing stands out about him; his coat. He has the most fabulous cat to stroke because he had the most dense, silky, magical coat. It was a real pleasure to stroke him (for the human!).

He took part in cat shows. His female friend Sky who lives with him was a champion blue Brit SH who had that great silent meow:

She has that classic Brit SH face.

Great character
by: Finn Frode, Denmark

Hi Nezzi. What you tell adds to what I've heard about the character of British Shorthair - they are loving, sociable and gentle.
With cats young toms usually make exellent uncles/big brothers, so no doubt Nico will teach your younger kitten some of his qualities too.
What luck you found him and saved him from that cage. :-)

Nox
by: Nezzi

Aww, Nox is very handsome as well. What is his temperment like? Does he play with cat toys, or does he prefer string? Nico wont play with anything but string, and he chases the lazer pointer too.

Reminds me
by: Michael

Nico reminds me of Helmi Flick's cat Nox. Nico is a handsome boy. Thanks showing him to us. Here is a picture of Nox:
