I got my cat in June of 2005; she was 3 years old.. I saved her from a family that could not keep her because they already had 2 cats (mom & son) that would not accept her nor did they like her.

So this poor cat was stuck in the utility room of the house. I was happy to take her. As I never had a cat and was always a dog person I never found out what kind of cat breed she was.

Her previous owner was nice enough to give all her toys and vet records, but nothing indicated her breed.

I love my cat... she's not too needy, in fact she's quite independent, like me... but she does know when to wake me and when to tell me she's glad to see me.... I have, over the years, tried to find out her breed, not even my vet knew with certainty.

After days and days of looking at different breeds on this website..and years of literature I have purchased.... I have concluded that she is in fact a NFC!

How could I have missed it!!?? She has all the characteristics of this breed, and she's gorgeous...just like your photos show.....

I may not be an expert... but I'm sure that she is!! Thank you so much for helping me find out more about my baby girl! i love her even more than I could ever think I would... (being a former dog owner).

I am the lady living with a cat - and i don't mind it a bit, she's my family!

Hi Anna. I have to add a few words of caution here. Your Samantha could be an NFC-mix or even pure NFC for that matter, but without knowing her parents no one can tell. For any cat to be of a particular breed, both of it's parent must be purebred too. And the only way of establishing that is by having pedigree papers to prove it.
All other cats are by definition mixed breeds. That goes for most cats, but of course they are no lesser cats for that. Moggies are just as loved and in fact often healthier because of less inbreeding. You can read more in the article http://www.pictures-of-cats.org/what-breed-is-my-cat.html
I too see Norwegian traits in Samantha, but whatever her background may be, she is a great looking cat and from what you tell an independant, but nevertheless affectionate character too.
Often two female cats won't get on very well, so being adopted by you is probably the best thing that ever happened to her. I've seen other cats blossom from such a move and I'm sure she enjoys having the full attention of her human. :-)
