Science Diet keeps fleas from attaching to my cats

by Joi
(Portland, Oregon, U.S.A.)

We have used Science Diet Cat food (and Dog food for our dogs) for about 20 years. When our cats (and dogs) eat Science Diet, they do not get fleas and there are no fleas in our home. This is true for both our indoor/outdoor cats and our strictly inside cats (as well as our dogs).

From time to time we have tried other "good" brands of cat food, only to get fleas. After getting rid of the fleas we went back to Science Diet food and there were no more fleas.

On this cat food, Fluffy (a full Balinese) lived to be 18 years of age. Her offspring, Thomas, (of our Balinese and a neighborhood cat) lived to be 20 years of age.

Incidentally, our Shepherd/Lab mix dog lived a healthy and happy life to be 15 years of age and our Karelian Bear Dog is 14 3/4 years of age and is doing well.

We do not need to use Advantage or any flea products as long as our cats & dogs eat the Science Diet food. I am not a Vet, a pet nutritionist or a scientist and cannot explain why this works -- but it does work for our family.

tainted food?
by: Rick

perhaps its all the poisons from the dead and diseased animals used to put the animals to sleep that the company has in their food. And it acts as a flea killer or repellant. just a guess.........

Hi Mike:
Let us know how it work for your cats! If your cats already have fleas then you'll probabnly need to get rid of the fleas before this will work. Good Luck!
