The Better Bush To Hunt Under

by Anna Nesterova-Liers
(Long Island, NY)

Time to sleep after the hunt

Time to sleep after the hunt

One of our grumpy neighbors annoyed with her life hates cats, dogs and I assume all other living things around. She once called me at home saying my big and furry cat Lyova was scaring her by sitting too close to her door, and that I should keep my cat in my own home.

I went out and looked: Lyova had such a wonderful "hunting spot" just under that particular evergreen bush in the Cypress family. I thought, I would definitely pick that same observation point if I was a cat. What to do, what to do? I thought for a while, and yes, got an idea.

I picked up a few walnuts I had at home and threw them under another bush next to my own patio. The birds came soon enough, and so did Lyova.

Everyone is happy now: the birds are getting fed, the neighbor is not going to be "abducted" by a scary ball of fur, and Lyova has a much better "strategic location". She can watch all the birds and butterflies in the area safe and sound:-).

Lyova
by: Jane

Lyova is a real beauty.
I'm glad all was resolved peacefully and she can enjoy being out in the fresh air as cats are entitled to be.
It's such a sin so many are treated as mere ornaments to sit and look longingly out of the window.
That's no life for a cat.

Funny Ozge
by: Anna

Thanks, Ozge:

I never said Lyova was small and cute, cause she is huge and furry LOL! But she is soo soft and loving.
By the way, where can I glance at your kitty's pictures?

Lyova
by: Ruth

Hi again Anna, that is another lovely photo of the beautiful Lyova.
What a good way to entice her back from your grumpy neighbour's garden, she does sound a very unhappy mean person.
Michael I think an article on Clever Cat Caretaking would be a good idea and very interesting.

Clever Cat Caretaking!
by: Michael

Hi Anna, that was a nice, elegant and clever way to resolve a neighbour dispute!

It makes me think of a possible new article: Clever Cat Caretaking...

There are often several ways to achieve a goal and as humans who are meant to be smarter than cats, we should find the best way, the way that is best for the cat and us.

A lot of the time people use crude and what I consider unpleasant ways to do things, such a punishing cats for doing thins naturally. I'll have a think about that idea you have given me.

Thanks for sharing. Stick around.
