Whiskas Cat Milk

by Michael
(London, UK)

In a recent post I wrote about how Sister Wendy, a very fine and intelligent women, had said that "cats are people". It was an interesting thing to say and I tried to understand it in the context of her life, a reclusive nun.

Well cats are becoming people...They are growing thumbs and with thumbs they can do all sorts of things like open doors. Actually cats don't need thumbs to open doors. A good number do it already with those dextrous toes.

The interesting thing about this cleaver advert, is that, in general, cats can't drink cow's milk with getting diarrhea. Some cats might not be affected but this is normally the case. It's the lactose in cow's milk that they find difficult to digest.

There is strong argument that people shouldn't drink cows milk either. In my case it causes or contributes to sinus problems and resultant secondary infections after a cold. Try soya milk! Cows milk is for cows.

Back to cats..cat-people. Cats need special milk. In the old days people put out milk for cats all the time - hence this advert that assumes that cats desire milk. They do, they like dairy products. My three legged by likes cheese. Strong cheddar cheese. But cats don't know we are giving them cows milk. They, the cats, think it is their mother's milk. We keep them in permanent kittenhood.

I like the advert though. It connects with the fact that most cat caretakers threat their cat companions as family members but don't always give them equal rights. Here the cat has come back demanding those rights and the milk.

Thanks for a brighter end to my day!

I loved that video, it was kind of in spoof horror movie mode with the guy being stalked by milk thirsty cats!

Their little thumbs were great; what genius!

Thanks again, Michael; I really enjoyed it!

Funny video
by: Ruth (Monty's Mom)

I enjoyed the video, but it does seem cats get what they want even without thumbs. I agree about cow's milk. Cow's milk is for baby cows. Why we drink it, I really don't know. The pasteurization process denatures the protein and makes it ten times more terrible. It only tastes half way decent before pasteurization. The stuff in the grocery store is undrinkable. It's not really good for us in any form, and I know that's blasphemy coming from someone from Wisconsin. It stuffs up my sinuses too. Cheese on the other hand is awesome! Monty likes cheese. I figure so long as he keeps getting some now and then he'll keep making enough lactase to digest it,and he hasn't had any problems from it. I don't give him very much, but he purrs like crazy and then washes up as if he'd just had huge meal.

so funny
by: kathy w

I needed a good laugh so that video made my day. As I am mommy to a double pawed cat, i could just see her following around with the cats in the video. She does have a special quirk, she will only eat sitting inside of this small box. thats our Mariel!!
